もとはEberhard Faber 社が1930年代から1998年まで製造、販売していたBLACKWING鉛筆ですが、近年Cal Cedar社「PALOMINO」ブランドの一つとして新たに発売されるようになりました。
BLACKWING PEARL（白）はバランスのとれた硬度です。
カリグラフィーの練習にも最適な鉛筆です。

芯の硬度表記には「firm」「balance」「soft」（後に「Extra firm」）という独自の基準を採用しているというのも新しい製品を世に送り出したいという同社のこだわりです。
デザイン性、クオリティの高さ、そして歴史的製品に対こだわりを高く評価され2015年からニューヨークにあるMoMAストアでの発売が開始されると、瞬く間に全米だけでなくヨーロッパやアジアに販売網が広がりました。
